1944年9月，超過一萬七千名盟軍精銳，徒勞的葬送於這場史上規模最大、死傷最劇，教科書稱之為「市場花園行動」的空降奇襲裡，前後卻僅用去短短9天；而這場由盟軍高層一手炮製的悲劇發生地點，則被稱作─Hell’s Highway......

◎實景取材，真人真事◎
由於《榮耀戰場》系列在研發過程中所考證的史料向來以大量、嚴謹而著稱，因此獲美國海外戰爭退伍軍人協會背書，認定《榮耀戰場》系列可使人從遊戲當中瞭解到二戰的殘酷，與犧牲者奮不顧身的壯烈精神！，加上獨特的電影運鏡敘事手法，讓本作呈現出一種與影集《諾曼地大空降》無異的動人氛圍。一名從戰場上倖存、參與遊戲開發的老兵就表示：「它簡直就像是一部讓人回到過去的時光機器。」
◎從九死一生的絕地中開始任務◎
本作延續前作戰況，來到了史上空降規模最大，傷亡也最慘重的「市場花園行動」，該行動由於決策與估計上的錯誤，讓大批精銳空降在德軍團團包圍中。與諾曼地登陸不同，此役雖然付出傷亡過半、空降師慘遭近乎全滅的慘痛代價，卻對戰事進展沒有太大幫助，更加凸顯市場花園行動的悲劇性。而玩家將成為這場作戰的一員，隨著 Matt Baker、Joe Hartsock 等 101 空降師弟兄，在惡名昭彰的 Hell’s Highway 上奮勇一搏、絕境求生。
◎戰場掩體與地形扮演生存關鍵◎
遊戲採用 Unreal 3 進階版引擎，讓遊戲畫面、人物動作與臉部線條得以如電影般精細，像是當玩家投擲手榴彈時會做出拉保險、投擲、趴下等皆處理的一氣呵成。
在物理環境的表現上也極為真實，例如若敵軍傻到以木製柵欄作為掩蔽物，玩家大可一輪猛射讓子彈直接穿透柵欄殺死對方；要是對方懂得用沙袋作為掩護，不妨用火箭砲轟散這些障礙；其他像圍牆或各種建築物件都有可能在砲火中應聲而倒，因此固守一處的作法不再保險，玩家需因應環境變化適時指揮小隊，移動尋找掩體進行攻防。
◎實現戰術運用的小隊制指揮作戰系統◎
遊戲系統方面延續前作大受好評的小隊制作戰，但又加入許多新要素，例如玩家可以使用或指揮重火力小隊，要求機槍兵製造綿密火網提供掩護，讓火箭筒兵摧毀橋樑或坦克，或讓迫擊砲手在遠距離外重創敵軍。
